We are sent to bring the gospel
Lyrics:
We are sent to bring the gospel
to a dying world today,
to lift up the name of Jesus,
giving hope in despair.
We are marching on each day,
nothing can stop us now.
We resist the king of darkness,
conquering back the earth for God.
And we proclaim
the name of Jesus.
We proclaim
His kingdom now.
We proclaim
the power of Jesus.
We proclaim His victory.
And if we fall, we will stand up.
We go on even if we are weak.
We are soldiers of the living God,
sent into a battle of life and death.
He is the living God.
He is the Lamb on the throne.
He is the Messiah.
He has paid the price for us.Hello everyone, I’m the presenter Kiki. Today I will share Sister Ingrid’s new song with you. The following is my interview with her on related topics. Feel free to leave a message in the comments section to talk more about it!
What does it mean to bring the gospel to a dying world in this song?
Everyone can see that the world is dying today. We have climate change, many wars, pandemics, and other problems for which we currently have no solution.
So the important question is: How can we give hope to this world when all these problems seem to have no solution?
We Christians have an answer: the good news — the gospel — that Jesus Christ died for us and that He will create a new world and a new heaven. When life ends for us, we have hope in Him. He gives us eternal life if we believe in His name and in the work He accomplished for us on the cross. And He calls us to share this good news: that when everything on earth and we as humans perish, there will still be new life.
How does lifting up the name of Jesus provide hope in despair?
First, faith in the name of Jesus brings eternal life.
In John 1 we read:
10 He was in the world, and the world was created through Him, yet the world did not know Him.
11 He came to His own, but His own did not receive Him.
12 But to all who received Him, He gave the right to become children of God — to those who believe in His name.
The Bible also says in the letter to the Philippians:
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
7 but made Himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death — even death on a cross.
9 Therefore God highly exalted Him and gave Him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Many political or religious leaders wanted their names to go down in history and be remembered. And indeed, they still have followers who remember them.
But there is a great difference: Jesus is still alive, and there is power in His name. When we receive Him and pray to the Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ, things will change and happen.
What does it mean to resist the king of darkness and reclaim the earth for God?
God gave the earth to man, but man handed it over to the devil and the powers of darkness.
Satan — whose original name in the Bible is Lucifer — is the king of darkness, and the Bible speaks of the fallen angels as princes of darkness.
But Jesus gained victory over them when He gave His life on the cross.
The Bible says in Colossians 2:
13 You, who were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive with Him, having forgiven you all your sins.
14 He canceled the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. He set it aside, nailing it to the cross.
15 He disarmed the rulers and authorities and made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in Him.
4. How does the proclamation of the name, kingdom, power, and victory work?
Does Jesus have an influence on the world?
Here we turn to Ephesians 6:
12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in the heavenly realms.
Sometimes we have a conflict with a person, and everything seems so harsh and unfair, as if everything is against us. We must realize that it is not the person who is treating us badly, but the devil, who can use anyone not under the authority of Jesus against us.
If we have repented of our sins and accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior, our souls are saved. The devil cannot take that away, but he can make our lives as difficult as possible.
But we have God’s promise that Jesus has already won the battle, and we also have the assurance that nothing worse than what we can bear will happen.
So when we find ourselves in a spiritual battle, we simply need to put on spiritual armor and trust in Jesus.
What does it mean to be a soldier of the living God in battle? Life and death?
(Please briefly talk about the relationship between life and death from the sister’s perspective.)
When we begin to pray for a person who does not know Jesus, it becomes a spiritual battle to win their soul for Christ.
Spiritual battles take place in all areas of our lives. Jesus wants to save a soul, while the devil wants to claim that soul for himself and take it to hell.
Therefore, we must put on the spiritual armor to stand firm in this battle.
Spiritual warfare and armor are described in Ephesians 6:
10 Finally, my brothers, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in the heavenly realms.
13 Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.
14 Stand therefore, having fastened the belt of truth around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
15 and having your feet fitted with the readiness of the gospel of peace.
16 Above all, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the fiery arrows of the evil one.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 Pray in the Spirit at all times with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
19 Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel,
20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
21 Tychicus, the dear brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will tell you everything, so that you also may know how I am and what I am doing.
22 I am sending him to you for this very purpose, that you may know how we are, and that he may encourage your hearts.
23 Peace to the brothers and love with faith from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Grace be with all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love. Amen.
How does the fact that Jesus is the living God, the Lamb on the Throne, and the Messiah affect our lives?
The greatest impact of this message is that once we have accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord, we pass from one kingdom to another.
As natural people, we are in the kingdom of darkness, even if we are not aware of it. We are enemies of God, and our destiny is to go to hell with the devil and his dark angels.
But when we repent of our sins and accept Jesus as God and Messiah, we enter the kingdom of heaven. This kingdom is invisible within us, and we are sealed with the Holy Spirit until Jesus comes and takes us to heaven.
What does it mean that Jesus paid the price for us?
The price of sin is death. Therefore, mankind began to die after the fall into sin — first spiritually, then physically.
To cover the shame of sin, God killed a lamb to make clothing for Adam and Eve. Later, Abel brought a lamb as an offering to God, which was the right offering in God’s eyes.
The Jewish people, who believed in Yahweh, took a lamb every year to die for their sins, but they had to repeat this sacrifice annually.
But God promised that He would send a Savior who would pay for all of humanity’s sins on the cross.
And that is what Jesus did for you, for me, and for every one of our listeners: He died in our place on the cross, took the shame of our sins, and paid the price that we all must pay.
Now all we have to do is confess that we need Jesus to pay this price, and we are free. Of course, we are not perfect and we continue to commit sins and make mistakes. But Jesus also died for our future sins.
A true Christian, however, will not take this lightly, but will strive to avoid sin as much as possible and follow the path of sanctification until he is united with Jesus Christ in heaven.
