I want to write a letter of love
I want to write a letter of love
to you, my God, my Savior,
but there are no words to express
what my heart is feeling for you.
So I offer you a song
of thanksgiving to praise you,
and you see my heart
longing for you.
First of all, I give you thanks
that you redeemed my life from the dark.
And all that I have failed
is forgiven and forgotten.
And thank you for my sanity,
that you gave me your healing.
All that has burdened me
I will never mention again.
And thank you for my friends,
for every person that loves me.
Sharing your gifts with each other
makes us so happy.
And thank you for this land
where you have brought me to live.
I have received so many blessings here,
and they treat me as one of them.
And each day you are providing me
with everything that I need.
Because I’m always in your hand,
and you will never leave me.
But most of all, I thank you
that you have created me,
that you have given this life to me,
just because you love me.
Short summary:
Sister expresses her gratitude to God by giving thanks for redemption, healing, friends, the land where she lives, and the daily blessings she receives. Above all, she thanks God for creating her and giving her life out of pure love. Through this song, the audience can feel a deeper sense of peace and God’s love.
We as human beings are not able to return the love God gives us.
The Bible says that God has loved the world so much, that he has given his Son Jesus to prevent anyone from being lost. All who believe in him will not be lost.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Love is giving. But what do we have to give? Nothing.
The only thing we can do is receive the gift of salvation with a thankful heart. When we give thanks to God, he is pleased – and that is all he wants from us.
John 1:16
And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
What does it mean by “redeemed my life from the dark”?
There are two kingdoms in the universe:
- The kingdom of God, which is light.
- The kingdom of the devil, which is darkness.
The kingdom of light leads to heaven and eternal joy, and the kingdom of darkness leads to hell and eternal suffering.
Colossians 1:13–14
13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.
From the beginning of our life, we are automatically in the kingdom of darkness, because by inheritance we are all sinners and enemies of God.
Romans 5:12
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.
But we are able to repent and receive Jesus Christ. Then we become friends of God, and he saves us from death and hell.
Romans 5:1–2
1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
How has God provided healing to Sister in recent hard life?
We struggle with daily life, because human beings are not perfect, and one person hurts another – often without being aware of it or without wanting to do so.
So we all live with small and big traumas, and the only one who can provide joy and peace is Jesus Christ.
When he said goodbye to his disciples, he promised to leave his peace with them – a peace that the world does not know, because it is a deep peace in the heart. This peace enables us to forgive those who hurt us and allows our soul to heal from every kind of suffering.
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.
Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
What role do Sister’s friends play in her life and relationship with God?
Jesus didn’t talk about masses of people. We don’t need hundreds of people to fill a church. We don’t even need ten, like the Jewish tradition requires to found a synagogue. We can share between two or three people and already have a church, because Jesus said he will be in the midst of them.
So when we share a meal, a good conversation, a song, or a leisure activity, Jesus is there as well. It is not necessary to go to a temple – Jesus is everywhere when we share with each other.
Matthew 18:20
For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
How has Sister been blessed in the land where she lives?
When I wrote this song, I was still living alone. But I had good friends in my church, my singing teacher, and some other people who showed me that they liked me. So even though I was living alone, I was surrounded by a group of people who were more than just friends.
What is Sister’s ultimate expression of gratitude towards God?
There are many, but most are too private to share here. One I can share: My husband was last week with his sister in Santiago, and they drove through a tunnel. Suddenly a car came from behind at high speed, and they nearly had an accident. But I am thankful that nothing bad happened and they had no crash.
And it is also nice that I met my sister here to share the podcasts.
After listening to each song, my heart feels very peaceful. I guess that kind of power comes from God, right? Or does it come from the love and power he has transferred to you?
We have to see that God is one, but in three persons: God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.
Nobody comes to Jesus unless the Father draws him and calls him to look for the right way.
John 6:44–45
44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.
And when we are on the right way, the Holy Spirit confirms to us that we are on the right way and that we are God’s children.
Romans 8:14–16
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.
His voice is very gentle, and when we are willing to obey, we can hear him well. If we disobey again and again, his voice becomes silent.
God the Father is calling every person at least three times in their lifetime to repent and follow Jesus. Maybe our listeners are being called today to come to God and give an offering of thankfulness.
Job 33:26–30
26 He shall pray unto God, and he will be favourable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness.
27 He looketh upon men, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not;
28 He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.
29 Lo, all these things worketh God oftentimes with man,
30 To bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.
