A good way

Standing in your presence makes me believe
You’re the creator of the universe who is leading everything.
And full of love, you take care of me, you see where I am.
You’re reaching out your loving hand, you guide my way.
And it’s a good way you have for me. When the night falls down,
you light up a light for me so I will never get lost.
It’s a small way you are leading me, sometimes it’s difficult to see.
I see only a part of it, but it’s prepared for all my days.

And all the things I worry about become so unimportant,
when I put my hand in yours and stop being frightened.
I long for more love and confidence in my Father in heaven,
who takes care of all my needs long before I pray.

At last, I ask: The one who created me, who gives me life and gifts—
shall the Lord, who owns me, not take care of his child?
We are sheep in the Shepherd’s hand; we just go where he leads us:
valleys and mountains, rivers of streaming water.

Questions for Sister about this song:

What does it mean to believe in the creator of the universe who leads everything?
Sister, do you really believe in this world created by God?

Yes. Because when we find a creation, there must be a creator.
In the epistle to the Romans, Paul wrote that all humans can experience God by observing his creation.

All other philosophies and opinions don’t make sense.
When somebody thinks the Big Bang is the origin of the earth, my question is: who initiated the Big Bang?
When somebody says the earth created itself by coincidence, then my question is: how can something that formed itself by coincidence be so perfect?
It is obvious that there was a higher intelligence who worked creation, and in the Bible God presents himself as God the Creator.

How does the presence of a loving God provide comfort and guidance in difficult times?
I am suffering from my current work situation, facing unfair workloads and people who want to take advantage of me. I truly hope to get this answer from God.

First of all, God gives us a user’s manual for how we can live and manage our lives better and achieve peace and comfort.
This book is the Bible, and we can learn from the law and the words of Jesus as well as the lives of many people who lived thousands of years before us with the same struggles we have today.

When we have received Jesus as our Savior, we are sealed with the Holy Spirit.
The work of the Holy Spirit is to remind us in each situation of the words of the Bible and how we should adapt them to our situation.
We are not always willing to obey, so his voice can be very quiet and we lose ourselves in difficult situations.
But when we learn to hear his voice and obey, we have—together with God’s word—a lamp for our feet, as it is written in the Psalms, and we know how to act in uncomfortable power struggles.

In case of problems with other people, Jesus said: “Come to me and learn from me, because I am meek and humble in heart.”
Sometimes it is wiser to be quiet or to turn the other cheek and to pray that God solves the problem for us.

And your question about the presence of God: When I begin to pray and have fellowship with him, I feel a great peace in my heart that only he can give me.

What is the significance of the light that God provides when the night falls down?
And how does that kind of feeling bring peace?

We all know that life consists of day and night.
Sometimes we have such joyful days that we wish they would never end.
But then there can also be days of sorrow and grief.

And because of this I wrote: When life is very hard and troubled, God gives us hope and carries us.
He gives light in the darkness.
When I had sad days, I prayed: “Give me one thing to be happy about today,” and he answered with a little star, even when the day was sad.

And after times of sadness and darkness come the day and the sun again. That is the way we live here on earth.

How does faith in God help to put worries and concerns into perspective?

Sometimes there are worries that are very hard to handle, such as the death of a beloved person or a close friend.
In these moments we see that God’s plan was not for human beings to die and that we are not prepared to face the death of someone we love.

It is the consequence of Genesis 3, when Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit, that they had to leave Eden and die.

Often we miss the person for our whole life, but God gives us the strength and the hope to go on with our lives.
He feeds us with good thoughts, and in the Psalms we can read 150 songs from people who lived through ups and downs and wrote about the promised Savior.

What is the relationship between God as a shepherd and humans as sheep?

Jesus says: “I am the good shepherd who gives his life for his sheep.”
We know his voice and follow him. And he knows us and goes ahead of us.

And in Psalm 23 it says that he leads us to grass and fresh water.
When our soul is thirsty, he provides us with everything we need.

How does the natural world, such as valleys, mountains, and rivers, reflect the presence and care of God?
How can we really feel him alive with us daily?

In Psalm 23 it is written that he prepares a table in the presence of our enemies, and even when we walk through the valley of darkness, we will not fear.

Sometimes, before I fall asleep at night, I imagine the table that Jesus prepares for me.
That he feeds my soul, and even when there are enemies like the fallen angels, he is with me and keeps me safe.

What did you learn after you created this song in your life?

I like this song very much because I give glory to God with it.
It is a very true song, and I wrote it because I wanted to give thanks to God for all his care.
