1.Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb.
2 So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.”
3 So Peter went out with the other disciple, and they were going toward the tomb.
4 Both of them were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first.
5 And stooping to look in, he saw the linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in.
6 Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there,
7 and the face cloth, which had been on Jesus’[1] head, not lying with the linen cloths but folded up in a place by itself.
8 Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed;
9 for as yet they did not understand the Scripture, that he must rise from the dead.
10 Then the disciples went back to their homes.
11 But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb, and as she wept she stooped to look into the tomb.
12 And she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had lain, one at the head and one at the feet.
13 They said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.”
14 Having said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing, but she did not know that it was Jesus.
15 Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.”
16 Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned and said to him in Aramaic,[2] “Rabboni!” (which means Teacher).
17 Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”
18 Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord”—and that he had said these things to her.

Hello everyone, I am kiki. Chinese name of our second phase of the program is “读经大讲堂”. The English name is “Bible study”.
We will adopt a relaxed also enjoyable learning mode to take you into a new learning world. Each time I will make a personal summary and analysis from the perspective of a learner, and then Sister Ingrid will help me conduct in-depth learning and problem discussions with everybody.
I hope that such an interesting and interactive process can bring new knowledge experience to you all. The following is my interview with sister on related issues. Today is the thirty-two lecture on the Gospel of John.
Everyone is welcome to leave a message in the comment area for discussion!

2.My summary of John thirty-two-time study:

Well, everybody! Firstly, is still my today’s personal study summary.
Early on Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to Jesus’ tomb and saw that the stone had been rolled away.
Shocked, she ran to tell Peter and another disciple, saying someone had taken Jesus’ body. Both disciples ran to the tomb, but the other disciple got there first.
He saw the linen cloths inside but didn’t enter.
When Peter arrived, he went inside and saw the cloths, including the face cloth, neatly folded. The other disciple then entered, saw everything, and believed.
However, they didn’t yet fully understand that Jesus had risen, as Scripture had foretold. Afterward, the disciples went back home.
Mary stayed at the tomb, crying. As she looked inside, she saw two angels sitting where Jesus’ body had been. They asked her why she was crying, and she said it was because Jesus’ body had been taken.
Then she turned around and saw a man, not realizing it was Jesus. Thinking he was the gardener; she asked if he had moved the body. Jesus said her name, “Mary,” and she immediately recognized him, calling him “Rabboni,” which means Teacher.
Jesus told her not to cling to him because he hadn’t yet ascended to God. Instead, he asked her to go and tell the disciples that he would soon ascend to his Father, who was also their Father and God.
Mary then went to the disciples and shared the exciting news: “I have seen the Lord,” and she told them what Jesus had said.
Now let Ingrid sister make a go further summary.

3.Sister’s comment from my studying summary:

Hello sister, one point I would like to mention is, that Mary was looking for the earthly Jesus, the rabbi, she knew before he was crucified, she did not look for the arisen and glorified Jesus.

That is why she went to the tomb and why she wanted to touch Jesus. But Jesus did not allow that she saw him like before, he wanted her to believe, that he is arisen with the purpose to go to his father and to be there to establish his kingdom and she and we shall see him, when we are going there.

40 days after resurrection, Jesus fulfilled this word and went up to the father.
Nevertheless, she has got a part of Jesus here on earth at the day of Pentecost’s, 50 days after resurrection, when the Holy Spirit came down from heaven, who dwells still among us.

Many will ask, why Jesus did not go directly to heaven and send a message from heaven, but there are two reasons:
When High Priests are offering in the holy place of the temple and they come out after, it means, that the offer has been accepted.

Jesus is a High Priest for us, too, and the fact, that he came visible out of the tomb means, that God father in heaven has accepted his offering.
The other reason is, that he gave more instructions, what his disciples shall do, after he will have left to go to heaven. For example, to evangelize and make more disciples as it is written in the grand commission in the gospel of Matthew.

  1. Q list part: base on John 19th items:

Okay. Base on above bible study content, now let me ask sister some related questions.
We hope the following questions can be helpful to our brothers and sisters who have just become Christians.

1.Why did Mary Magdalene go to the tomb early in the morning?

She wanted to see him because on Friday the funeral was very fast and in other gospels they write, that she carried ointments for to put on his body with her.

2.What did Mary see when she first arrived at the tomb?

She saw, that the tomb was empty.

3.Why did Peter and the other disciple run to the tomb?

They wanted to know what happened. There was a big stone before the tomb, so it was nearly unbelievable, that someone took it away and they thought that somebody has stolen the body of Jesus Christ.

4.What was unusual about the linen cloths in the tomb?

They were folded together and the tomb was arranged like the room of a person who left and never will come back.

5.Why didn’t Mary recognize Jesus at first?

She was crying and occupied with her grief. And she did not take the possibility that Jesus maybe arose in serious.

6.What made Mary realize it was Jesus speaking to her?

When he spoke her name, she recognized him at his voice.

7.What does the word “Rabboni” mean, and why did Mary use it?

Rabboni means teacher. For her and the disciples, Jesus was 3 years the teacher who showed them the way to Gods kingdom.

8.Why did Jesus tell Mary not to cling to him?

As I mentioned, she was searching for the earthly Jesus, the man she knew before crucification. But here we have the risen and glorified Jesus. She had to accept, that time of grace was fulfilled and the time, when Jesus was with them on earth will soon end.

9.What message did Jesus give Mary to tell the disciples?

She shall tell to the disciple ” I ascend to my father and your father to my God and your God.”

10.How did Mary share the good news with the disciples?

She went back to the disciples and told, that she has seen Jesus and that he told these words.
