Song: The armour of God
🎶 [Chorus 1]
Be strong in the Lord
and in the strength of His might.
Put on the whole armor of God,
so that you may be able
to stand against
the wiles of the devil.
🎶 [Verse 1]
For our battle is not
against flesh and blood,
but against
the powers of darkness,
the spiritual hosts
of wickedness.
Take courage, because
Jesus has already won.
🎶 [Verse 2]
Put on the armor
every single day.
Gird your loins
with truth.
Put on the breastplate
of righteousness.
Wear the shoes
of the Gospel of peace.
🎶 [Verse 3]
Take up the shield
of faith
to extinguish
the fiery darts of the evil one.
Take the helmet
of salvation,
and the sword
of the Word of God.
🎶 [Verse 4]
Pray at all times
in the Spirit.
Revere God
in faith and truth.
Do not be afraid
of anything,
because God hears,
and redemption is near
🎙️ Interview with Ingrid Sister
1️⃣ What is the main source of strength that the song tells us to rely on?
The main source of our strength should be Jesus.
He has already won the battle against the devil and death on the cross.
He commands us not to worry, but to give our worries to Him,
because He will be with us until the end of the world.
2️⃣ According to the song, our real enemies aren’t people. So, what are we actually fighting against?
We are fighting against the powers under heaven,
the principalities in the air, and the cosmic forces of darkness.
Their only intention is to draw us away from Jesus
and lead us into hell and eternal suffering together with them.
3️⃣ The song mentions that “Jesus has already won.”
Why is this such an important reason for us to be brave?
The kingdom of darkness has a vast army of demons
and ugly fallen angels.
But in Jesus, we are also an army —
an army of the soldiers of Christ.
When we are alone, the devil will try to attack us,
to make life difficult and ultimately destroy us.
But Jesus has already conquered him.
As written in Colossians 2:15:
“He disarmed the rulers and authorities
and put them to open shame,
by triumphing over them in Him.”
So when we stand with Jesus,
we have every reason to be brave
and to win this spiritual battle.
4️⃣ Can you name the different pieces of God’s armor listed in the song?
- The belt of truth —
We must walk in truth, not lie to others or ourselves,
and live a transparent life. - The breastplate of righteousness —
It covers our heart and lungs.
Evil or good thoughts both come from the heart. - The shoes of the Gospel of peace —
We should always be ready to bring peace
and share the good news of the Gospel. - The shield of faith —
With it, we extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one.
Faith protects us in every situation. - The helmet of salvation —
Salvation protects our thoughts and mind. - The sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God —
With God’s Word and the Spirit, we fight back
and make the devil flee.
5️⃣ Why is “truth” compared to a belt — the first piece of armor we should put on?
In ancient times, Roman soldiers didn’t wear trousers.
They wore a long tunic held together by a belt.
Without the belt, the tunic could fall or be blown up,
which was shameful.
For Christians, truth should be our first priority.
Jesus called the devil “the father of lies.”
It was through a lie that Eve fell in the Garden of Eden.
So we fix our eyes on Jesus — the Way, the Truth, and the Life —
and strive not to live a double life,
but a transparent one with nothing to be ashamed of.
6️⃣ How can the shield of faith protect us in daily life when we feel attacked by negative thoughts or situations?
Through faith, we can replace negative thoughts
with positive, godly thoughts.
This is not worldly positive thinking,
but a confidence rooted in God’s power and promises.
We have a mighty God who provides all we need
and a book full of promises — the Bible —
which gives us hope even beyond death.
So when our thoughts are under attack,
we can say to them, like to a noisy dog:
“You don’t belong here. You have no right to stay,
because I am a child of God,
and my God is greater than you.”
7️⃣ The sword of the Spirit is the only weapon for fighting back.
What is it, and how do we use it when facing temptation or lies?
The Word of God is mentioned many times in the Bible.
Jesus Himself defended against the devil’s temptations in the desert
by quoting Scripture (Matthew 4).
As written in Hebrews 4:12:
“For the Word of God is living and active,
sharper than any two-edged sword,
piercing to the division of soul and spirit,
joints and marrow,
and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
Unfortunately, some Christians have misused it —
like Peter, who cut off the ear of the high priest’s servant.
But Jesus, full of perfect love — even for His enemies —
healed that servant.
This shows us that our fight is never against people.
8️⃣ What does it mean to pray in all seasons?
How is it different from only praying when we need help?
There are different seasons in life,
just like the seasons of the year —
times of struggle, times of peace, times of joy.
We should not only pray when we need help,
but also when giving thanks,
because God saves us and lets us be His children.
Prayer is not only a cry for help —
it’s a relationship of constant gratitude and trust.
9️⃣ How can putting on this spiritual armor help with specific problems,
like stress at work or conflict with a friend?
When we stop focusing on the situation or the person
that makes life difficult,
we find rest in prayer and stop blaming others.
When we realize that the person may also be a victim,
used by dark powers,
it becomes easier to pray for them and forgive.
And when we forgive, the devil loses his power.
🔟 The song ends by saying “Do not be afraid, because God hears.”
How does knowing that God is listening make you feel less afraid?
Of course — knowing that there is a God who hears
brings peace to my heart.
When you calm down in the midst of trouble,
you can see more clearly who the real enemy is
and find God’s solution to what once seemed impossible.
