Here on earth it doesn\u2019t mean we simply become \"better persons.\" We are on the way to becoming more like Christ. We are walking the way of sanctification. The good work that will be finished in the end is that we will be a holy priesthood for God in heaven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. It says God will finish this work \"until the day of Jesus Christ.\" That sounds like a long time! How can I not get discouraged when growing up feels so slow?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We should not focus on the whole distance or only on the day of Jesus Christ. Living day by day is the best way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You never know what happens today or tomorrow \u2014 an unexpected accident could change everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I was young, I ran marathons on my bicycle. In a marathon, only the next kilometer is of interest. The one after that you see only when you arrive there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So we know the day of the Lord will come and He will complete His good work in us \u2014 but it is not important when.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. The second verse talks about storms and bad circumstances. Can you give me a story from the Bible where someone went through a storm but God was really with them?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The disciples were on the Sea of Gennesaret when a storm came. The waves were so high that they feared the boat would sink. They woke Jesus, and with one word He stilled the storm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is faith. Faith is not feeling \u2014 feelings come from the soul, and the soul can suffer mood changes.
Faith comes from your spirit. The Holy Spirit tells your spirit that you are a child of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

David, the great singer in the Old Testament, often suffered mood changes, as we see in his psalms. But he commanded his soul to be quiet and to praise the Lord.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you have a precious diamond, it must be cut and shaped to become useful and more valuable. For the stone, this process is not pleasant. In the same way, when God shapes us, it may not feel good, but it is necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. The last part says, \"to live is Christ, and to die is gain.\" That\u2019s a pretty intense line! What does it actually mean for me? How can my everyday life be \"Christ\"?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paul wrote this in his letter to the church in Philippi. He knew he would soon die, and he was clear that life only had purpose if it was spent in service to Christ. If he died, it would be gain, because he would go to heaven and meet Jesus Christ in person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. It says dying is \"gain\" because we have eternal hope. That seems scary but also cool. How does hoping for heaven change the way I look at problems at work or with family?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

They lose their importance. Does it really matter that I have a conflict with someone if I can gain heaven by simply saying \u201csorry\u201d or asking for forgiveness and letting go of the problem?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9. The whole song is about God being faithful from start to finish. But what should I do when my own faith feels weak and I start to doubt these promises?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is exactly why Paul wrote this passage in the Bible, and why I turned it into a song \u2014 to remind my brothers and sisters of this spiritual truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When our faith is weak, we can listen to this song, read the Bible passage again, or meditate on the Psalms. These encourage us in our spiritual battles against the kingdom of darkness, reminding us that God is with us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Das gute Werk, das am Ende vollendet wird, ist, dass wir eine heilige Priesterschaft f\u00fcr Gott im Himmel sein werden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Es hei\u00dft, Gott wird dieses Werk \u201ebis zum Tag Jesu Christi\u201c vollenden. Das klingt nach einer langen Zeit! Wie kann ich mich nicht entmutigen lassen, wenn Wachsen so langsam geht?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wir sollten nicht auf die ganze Strecke oder nur auf den Tag Jesu Christi schauen.
Der beste Weg ist, Tag f\u00fcr Tag zu leben<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Du wei\u00dft nie, was heute oder morgen geschieht \u2013 ein unerwarteter Unfall k\u00f6nnte alles ver\u00e4ndern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Als ich jung war, fuhr ich Marathonrennen mit dem Fahrrad. In einem Marathon z\u00e4hlt nur der n\u00e4chste Kilometer.
Den danach siehst du erst, wenn du dort angekommen bist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So wissen wir, dass der Tag des Herrn kommen wird und dass Er Sein gutes Werk in uns vollenden wird \u2013 aber wann<\/strong> das geschieht, ist nicht wichtig.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Die zweite Strophe spricht von St\u00fcrmen und schwierigen Umst\u00e4nden. Gibt es eine Geschichte in der Bibel, in der jemand durch einen Sturm ging, aber Gott wirklich bei ihm war?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Die J\u00fcnger waren auf dem See Genezareth, als ein Sturm aufkam.
Die Wellen waren so hoch, dass sie f\u00fcrchteten, das Boot w\u00fcrde sinken.
Sie weckten Jesus \u2013 und mit einem einzigen Wort<\/strong> stillte Er den Sturm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Das Lied sagt, Gott hat versprochen, bei mir zu sein \u201ebis all deine Tage auf Erden zu Ende sind\u201c. Aber wie kann ich wirklich sp\u00fcren, dass Er bei mir ist, wenn ich mich manchmal v\u00f6llig allein f\u00fchle?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Das ist Glaube<\/strong>.
Glaube ist kein Gef\u00fchl \u2013 Gef\u00fchle kommen aus der Seele, und die Seele kann Stimmungsschwankungen haben.
Der Glaube aber kommt aus deinem Geist. Der Heilige Geist bezeugt deinem Geist, dass du ein Kind Gottes bist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
David, der gro\u00dfe S\u00e4nger im Alten Testament, hatte oft Stimmungsschwankungen, wie wir in seinen Psalmen sehen.
Aber er befahl seiner Seele<\/strong>, still zu sein und den Herrn zu preisen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\n\n\n
5. Auf Gebetserh\u00f6rungen zu warten ist schwer, wie das Lied sagt. Warum l\u00e4sst Gott uns manchmal so lange warten? Bedeutet das, dass es Ihm egal ist?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

9. Das ganze Lied handelt davon, dass Gott treu ist \u2013 vom Anfang bis zum Ende. Aber was soll ich tun, wenn mein eigener Glaube schwach wird und ich anfange, an diesen Verhei\u00dfungen zu zweifeln?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Genau darum hat Paulus diese Passage in der Bibel geschrieben \u2013
und deshalb habe ich sie in ein Lied verwandelt:

1. Sangen sier at Gud har begynt et \u00abgodt verk\u00bb i meg. Det er et stort l\u00f8fte! Men hva betyr egentlig dette \u00abgode verket\u00bb? Betyr det at jeg bare skal bli et bedre menneske?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her p\u00e5 jorden betyr det ikke bare at vi blir \u00abbedre mennesker\u00bb.
Vi er p\u00e5 vei til \u00e5 bli mer lik Kristus. Vi g\u00e5r helliggj\u00f8relsens vei.
Det gode verket som til slutt skal fullf\u00f8res, er at vi skal v\u00e6re et hellig presteskap for Gud i himmelen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Det st\u00e5r at Gud vil fullf\u00f8re dette verket \u00abinntil Jesu Kristi dag\u00bb. Det h\u00f8res lenge ut! Hvordan kan jeg la v\u00e6re \u00e5 bli motl\u00f8s n\u00e5r veksten g\u00e5r s\u00e5 sakte?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Vi b\u00f8r ikke se p\u00e5 hele veien eller bare p\u00e5 Jesu Kristi dag.
Den beste m\u00e5ten er \u00e5 leve dag for dag<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Du vet aldri hva som skjer i dag eller i morgen \u2013 en uventet hendelse kan forandre alt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Da jeg var ung, syklet jeg maraton. I et maraton teller bare den neste kilometeren.
Den etter ser du f\u00f8rst n\u00e5r du kommer dit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Slik vet vi at Herrens dag skal komme, og at Han vil fullf\u00f8re sitt gode verk i oss \u2013 men n\u00e5r<\/strong> det skjer, er ikke viktig.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Det andre verset snakker om stormer og vanskelige tider. Finnes det en bibelhistorie der noen gikk gjennom en storm, men Gud var virkelig med dem?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Disiplene var p\u00e5 Gennesaretsj\u00f8en da en storm kom.
B\u00f8lgene var s\u00e5 h\u00f8ye at de fryktet b\u00e5ten skulle synke.
De vekket Jesus \u2013 og med ett eneste ord<\/strong> stilnet Han stormen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\n\n\n
4. Sangen sier at Gud har lovet \u00e5 v\u00e6re med meg \u00abtil alle mine dager p\u00e5 jorden er til ende\u00bb. Men hvordan kan jeg virkelig f\u00f8le at Han er med meg n\u00e5r jeg noen ganger f\u00f8ler meg helt alene?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dette er tro<\/strong>.
Tro er ikke f\u00f8lelser \u2013 f\u00f8lelser kommer fra sjelen, og sjelen kan skifte hum\u00f8r.
Troen kommer fra din \u00e5nd. Den Hellige \u00c5nd vitner for din \u00e5nd at du er et Guds barn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
David, den store sangeren i Det gamle testamentet, hadde ofte hum\u00f8rsvingninger, som vi ser i salmene hans.
Men han befalte sin sjel<\/strong> \u00e5 v\u00e6re stille og love Herren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\n\n\n
5. \u00c5 vente p\u00e5 b\u00f8nnesvar er vanskelig, som sangen sier. Hvorfor lar Gud oss noen ganger vente s\u00e5 lenge? Betyr det at Han ikke bryr seg?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Paulus beskriver det i Romerne 5<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3 Vi roser oss ogs\u00e5 av v\u00e5re trengsler,
fordi vi vet at trengselen virker t\u00e5lmodighet,
4 t\u00e5lmodigheten pr\u00f8vethet, og pr\u00f8vetheten h\u00e5p,
5 og h\u00e5pet skuffer ikke,
fordi Guds kj\u00e6rlighet er ut\u00f8st i v\u00e5re hjerter ved Den Hellige \u00c5nd.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
Ventetiden er alts\u00e5 ikke bortkastet<\/strong>.
Mens vi tror vi bare venter, arbeider Gud allerede i oss<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Det st\u00e5r: \u00abHan leder deg p\u00e5 den beste veien.\u00bb Men hva om veien jeg g\u00e5r n\u00e5 f\u00f8les virkelig tung og vond? Hvordan kan det v\u00e6re den beste veien?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Paulus sier i Romerne 8<\/strong> at alle ting virker sammen til det gode<\/strong> for dem som elsker Gud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
N\u00e5r du har en verdifull diamant, m\u00e5 den kuttes og slipes for \u00e5 bli nyttig og vakker.
For steinen er denne prosessen ikke behagelig.
P\u00e5 samme m\u00e5te, n\u00e5r Gud former oss, kan det f\u00f8les vondt \u2013 men det er n\u00f8dvendig.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. Den siste delen sier: \u00ab\u00c5 leve er Kristus, og \u00e5 d\u00f8 er vinning.\u00bb Det h\u00f8res ganske sterkt ut! Hva betyr det egentlig for meg? Hvordan kan mitt daglige liv v\u00e6re \u00abKristus\u00bb?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Paulus skrev dette i sitt brev til menigheten i Filippi<\/strong>.
Han visste at han snart skulle d\u00f8, og han var klar over at livet bare hadde mening n\u00e5r det ble levd i tjeneste for Kristus.
Hvis han d\u00f8de, var det vinning, for da ville han komme til himmelen og m\u00f8te Jesus Kristus personlig.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. Det st\u00e5r at d\u00f8den er en \u00abvinning\u00bb fordi vi har et evig h\u00e5p. Det h\u00f8res b\u00e5de skremmende og vakkert ut. Hvordan forandrer h\u00e5pet om himmelen m\u00e5ten jeg ser p\u00e5 problemer p\u00e5 jobb eller i familien?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
De mister sin betydning.
Er det virkelig s\u00e5 viktig at jeg har konflikt med noen,
n\u00e5r jeg kan vinne himmelen
ved ganske enkelt \u00e5 si \u00abunnskyld\u00bb, be om tilgivelse
og slippe problemet fri?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\n\n\n
9. Hele sangen handler om at Gud er trofast \u2013 fra begynnelsen til slutten. Men hva skal jeg gj\u00f8re n\u00e5r min egen tro er svak og jeg begynner \u00e5 tvile p\u00e5 disse l\u00f8ftene?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Det er nettopp derfor Paulus skrev dette avsnittet i Bibelen \u2013
og derfor jeg gjorde det til en sang:
for \u00e5 minne mine br\u00f8dre og s\u00f8stre om denne \u00e5ndelige sannheten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
N\u00e5r troen v\u00e5r er svak, kan vi h\u00f8re denne sangen,
lese bibelverset igjen eller meditere over salmene.
De styrker oss i v\u00e5re \u00e5ndelige kamper
mot m\u00f8rkets rike og minner oss om
at Gud er med oss<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10. Hvis jeg virkelig tror p\u00e5 denne sangen \u2013 hvordan b\u00f8r det p\u00e5virke mine valg? Hvis Gud fullf\u00f8rer sitt verk i meg, b\u00f8r jeg da v\u00e6re modigere til \u00e5 snakke med andre om Ham?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
F\u00f8rst og fremst kan du hvile helt i Herren<\/strong>.
N\u00e5r du lever med Ham, vil Han lede deg med sine \u00f8yne<\/strong>,
og Den Hellige \u00c5nd vil stille dytte deg
n\u00e5r du skal si noe til noen
eller gj\u00f8re noe for Ham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
